[confictura.norma.x] I.

WHO THE RESIDENCY IS FOR

The open call is addressed to:

Saxophonists developing solo performance, artistic research, interpretative methodologies, experimental formats, or projects engaging the instrument’s histories and futures

Saxophone quartets seeking to deepen ensemble practice, investigate collective interpretation, develop repertoire, and examine the artistic and social organization of quartet performance

Performers working with contemporary music, historical inquiry, improvisation, electronics, interdisciplinary collaboration, transcription, expanded techniques, or hybrid formats

Applicants may propose an initial idea, work in progress, existing project requiring substantial development, lecture-performance, recording project, interpretative laboratory, or artistic research inquiry. Proposals may engage established repertoire, new works, self-authored material, arrangements, improvisational systems, or combinations of these.

The residency welcomes performers at different career stages whose proposals demonstrate artistic rigor, methodological curiosity, and capacity for sustained development. It particularly suits practitioners who understand interpretation not merely as repertoire realization, but as inquiry capable of generating artistic, historical, technical, and methodological knowledge.

The format presupposes sustained participation. Applicants should be prepared to:

– Present and contextualize their artistic practices and methodologies

– Share performances, recordings, scores, editions, texts, technical materials, or works in progress

– Engage attentively with the practices and questions of other participants

– Offer and receive precise artistic, interpretative, methodological, and critical feedback

– Discuss embodied, historical, technical, institutional, and aesthetic dimensions of performance

– Participate in listening, analysis, experimentation, rehearsal, documentation, and reflection

– Remain responsive to the transformation of projects through critical exchange

– Contribute to a working environment based on reciprocity, attentiveness, professional responsibility, and respect for divergent methods
